Hiring a generator for an Abu Dhabi site follows the same sizing rules as anywhere, but the emirate’s distances and summer heat add planning of their own. A set running for a month at a remote site is a logistics job as much as an electrical one. Size the set from a load list
List every item to be powered with its rating, add them, allow for the starting current of motors and air conditioners, and keep headroom. Ask the supplier to confirm the recommended kVA against your list rather than choosing a size from a general description of the site.
Allow for summer temperatures
A generator’s output can fall at high ambient temperatures, and Abu Dhabi summers are hot. Ask the supplier what output the set delivers at the temperatures expected on your site, especially for continuous running in summer.
Fuel on remote sites
On sites far from the city, running out of fuel stops the work. Agree how refuelling will be done, how often, and who monitors the fuel level. A larger tank or a separate fuel supply may be needed for continuous running, and fuel must be stored safely away from the exhaust.
Servicing and breakdowns at a distance
Long hires need routine servicing. Ask how often the supplier will visit, how quickly they can respond to a breakdown at your location, and whether a backup set is available for critical loads.
Dust and placement
Place the set on level, firm ground, away from stockpiles and traffic, with space for air flow. Dusty sites clog air filters faster, which is another reason to agree the service schedule in advance.
